Two people were injured in a head-on collision that took place at an intersection in Santa Maria on Sunday night. KSBY reported that the accident happened around 9 p.m. at Union Valley Parkway and Highway 135 on the night of May 19, 2024.

When Santa Barbara County officials arrived on scene, they discovered that two vehicles collided at the intersection due to reasons that are still under investigation. Both drivers, who were the only individuals inside each vehicle, were able to extricate themselves before police and emergency crews arrived.

Both drivers, an adult male and an adult female, sustained minor to moderate injuries caused by the collision. They were rushed to Marian Regional Medical Center Emergency Room by ambulance.

Due to the severity of the accident, the road was closed for clean-up for some time after the collision.

No further details have been released but police continue their investigation into the collision.
