Support for Children and Their Families After a Bakersfield Car Accident

Children are unable to file a personal injury lawsuit on their own after a car accident. However, in California, a parent or guardian is able to file a claim on their child’s behalf. Unfortunately, insurance sometimes doesn’t cover all of a child’s damages after a car accident, which is why filing a lawsuit is necessary.

A child may be eligible for some of the following damages in a claim:

  • Medical expenses that a child obtained or will incur in the future due to their injury
  • Future lost earnings if your child is unable to return to everyday life
  • Loss of enjoyment of life
  • Pain and suffering damages
  • Therapy expenses

Even though the statute of limitations is longer for a child in California, it is still important to seek legal help as soon as possible on their behalf. Speaking with an attorney can help you get started on the path toward financial recovery.
